Phlebotomy technicians are essential team members at hospitals, blood donor centers, mobile phlebotomy solutions, and diagnostic laboratories. They are responsible for the following duties:

• Drawing blood from patients

• Explaining blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer questions

• Evaluating patients’ ability to withstand procedure

• Performing basic point of care testing such as blood glucose levels

• Preparing blood, urine, and other specimens for testing

• Verifying patient or donor identity

• Maintaining and cleaning medical equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials

As advancements in medical technology rise, more employers are requiring national certification in the phlebotomy field each year.

Phlebotomy Technician process​

The initial step in obtaining your online CPT certification involves registration. Upon completion of registration, you will gain access to comprehensive certification materials. These materials encompass complete study resources, unlimited practice exams, and three exam attempts, ensuring you have everything necessary to successfully pass the final examination.

The subsequent step pertains to your externship, which can be undertaken in one of two ways: we can facilitate your externship placement, or you may initiate job applications, utilizing your certification to secure employment and complete your externship while employed.

Using our e-learning platform

With our one-of-a-kind e-learning platform featuring intelligent automation, you will easily navigate your way through the certification process. The entire process is able to be completed online from the comfort of your home.

Advisors will also be made available to assist you throughout the CPT certification exam process.

Though our advisors are here if you need them, we offer such an incredibly easy user experience, you’ll most likely not even need them until it’s time for your resume revision and job placement assistance once certified.

Taking the exam

You may take the certification exam at any time, and you have a total of 3 attempts to pass the CPT exam without any retake fees.

Each time you take a practice exam or the certification exam, you will be provided with a domain proficiency report that will show you the areas of the study materials you need to focus on to improve your score.

Upon completion of your national certification exam, your results will be provided to you within 1 hour.​

Immediate proof of certification

When you pass the certification exam, your national certification is instantly submitted to the national registry. A digital copy of your certification is provided by email and will be forever stored.
